An Act of State Vandalism: Iran Demolishes Ahwazi Houses

On 10 May 2012 Iranian security forces demolished a property of an Ahwazi rights activist after arresting him with his relative in Azziwiyeh neighbourhood in Ahwaz, the capital city.

Local sources in Tehran (capital city of Iran) told Alarabiya Satellite Channel that bulldozers backed by 100 securities agents raided the neighbourhood and demolished the property. They justified their action on lack of legal ownership documents a pretext used by Iran to dispossess Ahwazis from their ancestral land, farms and properties. Iran has confiscated hundreds of thousands of hectares of Ahwazis lands attempting to manipulate demographics by setting-up self-contained settlements and political projects.

Last week Iranian Security and Basij para military forces raid the same neighbourhood and arrested Mr. Abdulzahraa Mazrae, his wife and their nine-year-old daughter. Their whereabouts is still unknown.

In a similar and seprated raind on Shibaysha districs in the town of Hamidia forces also arrested Ayub Ismail Naisi (Abu Haroun), an Arab, last Wednesday .

Shibayshe and surroundings witness raids and arrests from time to time.
