Iran: Arrests at a Funeral of an Ahwazi Poet

The death of a poet (Sattar Sayahi Abu Seroor) has caused some dismay amongst the Ahwazi citizens leading to protests on the streets. It has been speculated that the Iranian regime was behind the death of the artist, as they wanted to ‘silence him’.

The protests on 14^th November 2012 led to some arrests being made. A few protesters were arrested and their whereabouts are still unknown to anyone. They were accused of being political activists and so were detained and most probably questioned under torture.
